Hodari Group's story
C. Mawazo Bakulu is the current president of the Hodari group for the new loan cycle. She is 44 years old, married, and a mother to 11 children. Her husband is a tailor. All of her children attend school except for the youngest, age 3. C. has a small business selling miscellaneous footwear and clothing. Having no fixed location to carry on her activities, she goes on the road to sell her goods, and allows her customers to buy on credit. She received a $50 loan from Hekima after being robbed of her capital in Kampala, Uganda. She managed to achieve profitability and is currently seeking an $800 loan, which she will use in her clothing retail business. Being unable to rent space to display her merchandise remains a major hurdle. In the future, she wants to buy a second plot of land to build a comfortable home. She also wants her children to receive proper schooling. As a member of the micro-finance institution, C. wishes to thank Hekima for granting her a loan without any guarantees.
