Arree's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to invest in raw materials to secure consistent weaving work and increase her income potential.

Arree's story

Arree grew up in a village in Surin Province, far from where she lives now. Arree moved to the Huay Hom village when she married her husband and they now have a son who attends preschool in a nearby village.

Arree is trying to make a new home in Huay Hom. Life for new couples is often hard, especially because land is precious and a home and fields can be difficult to obtain. Most families in Huay Hom work in subsistence farming and use dangerous pesticides to try to eke out crops on their small plots of land.

At first Arree was curious about the hammocks she saw other women weaving. She naturally jumped in and sought training as a weaver – especially because hammock weaving is far better compensated, safer, and more flexible than field labor.

Her loan will help her invest in weaving materials and yarn to ensure she has consistent work in the coming year.
