Panatda's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to invest in raw materials to secure consistent weaving work and to increase her income potential.

Panatda's story

Panatda grew up in Nan Province, but she moved to Phrae when she married a man from a hammock weaving village.

Panatda is a multi-talented woman with a lot of energy! She and her husband have four children, all of whom attend the local government school. She is also a full-time teacher at the same school in her village, but she has been weaving hammocks to earn a supplemental income for almost 10 years.

Hmong ladies have traditionally used their free time to do various handicrafts, so Panatda found it very practical to begin weaving hammocks after school, on weekends, or during school breaks. Her additional income has raised the family’s standard of living considerably over the past several years.

For instance, Panatda is proud to be able to give each of her children money for milk and a small treat at school each day. Even something small like this would be beyond their ability on just her salary as a teacher and her husband’s income from farming.

This loan will help her to stabilize her hammock weaving income by ensuring she has supplies and yarn to weave consistently through the coming year.
