Kanlaya's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for yarn and ensure a steady flow of income throughout the year.

Kanlaya's story

Kanlaya was born in Phrae province, but moved to live in her husband’s village of Bo Hoi (Snail Well village) in Nan province when they got married. She and her husband have four school-aged children who all attend a government school in their village.

She and her husband work hard to make their small mountain farming plot provide for their family. Their mountain rice fields provide food, albeit at the price of a great deal of hard, backbreaking work. Finances are always tight. Clothing, farming implements and other necessities sometimes remain out of reach for months or years.

After much deliberation, Kanlaya and her husband recently purchased a pickup truck to use in getting their produce to market. In times of emergencies, their truck also serves double duty as an ambulance, getting family and friends to the nearest hospital, two hours distant.

Kanlaya is optimistic that she can truly transform her circumstances through hammock weaving. This year, Kanlaya's loan will help her invest in raw materials for hammock weaving and stabilize her income so that she can work steadily, manage her household budget, and continue to grow her savings. Her loan will also ensure that her work isn't impacted by the global pandemic.

Especially in this time of global uncertainty, Kanlaya is grateful for your support to continue empowering her journey!
