Las Orquideas De Chuisiguan Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more chickens and feed.

Las Orquideas De Chuisiguan Group's story

All over the world, single mothers need to look for opportunities to generate income while they meet the needs of their children and care for their homes. An important common objective is to ensure that their children get a complete education so that they can enjoy a more prosperous future.

This is what Francisca, who is 43 years old and has four children ages five to 23, has as an objective. She completed three years of primary school and she is dedicated to achieving success in her own business raising animals, which she started five years ago when she separated from her husband. Francisca is currently requesting her first Kiva loan to buy more chickens and feed to fatten them up.

Francisca has lived in the department/state of Quiché for many years. She is a member of Friendship Bridge's "Las Orquideas de Chuisiguan" communal bank with six other women. They all speak K'iche Maya. They are some of the 32,000 who make up the Microcredit Plus program with Friendship Bridge, which combines loans, monthly educational sessions, and bimonthly medical visits.

Francisca shares: "I not only have access to a loan, but I also learn about how to invest money in a good way and get free medical attention." The monthly educational training meetings cover four topics: health, family, women, and business.

The loans from Kiva, in association with Friendship Bridge, are opening doors for Francisca and her friends. Thanks!
