Leni De Jesus's story

Leni de Jesus is a micro-entrepreneur of 46 years of age, a resident of the city of Barranquilla. She lives with her family. For 20 years she has had a sewing business. She sells leather items and articles of clothing.

Her business began when she had good results based on her experience in the art of dressmaking, which was instilled by her family from a very early age. This art was strengthened by her studies, which were focused on systems of teaching, specifically in early childhood. This brought her to make leather items and underwear for babies. She acquired her first machines and had her opening in the market. The business grew because she had a good number of customers with the passing of time. This gave her the opportunity to acquire machines and an inventory of supplies.

This commercial business is her only source of income, and it is what allows her to contribute to the sustenance of her household. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which appeared at a worldwide level, her work declined because of biosecurity issues and her income diminished drastically. For this reason, she is applying for her first Kiva loan through Fundación Santo Domingo with the goal of investing in the purchase of fabrics, leather, thread, wool, and other supplies.

Help her with the loan for her business!
