Yungueñitas Group's story

“Yungueñitas” is a communal association, which is beginning its second loan cycle. It is part of the Centro Focal de Santiago II, which is headed by a president and has a treasurer and chief secretary. The president, Mrs Deysi, decided to open her own sewing shop, close to her family, after having worked as a seamstress in Argentina. Her first loan was for 1000 Bolivian bolivianos and helped her buy a motor for her sewing machine. With her second loan of 1000 bolivianos, she intends to buy fabric. Mrs Deysi is the mother of four children, which she works hard to provide for. The "Yungueñitas” communal association has eight members, who each have their own business. These include: a jacket-making business; a bed and mattress sales business; a sports shoe making business; an electricians; a food sales business; a CD and keyring sales business; and a potato chips and chicharrones (fried meat) sales business.
