A loan helped to purchase farm inputs such as fertilizer and seeds to improve production, increase income, and help a widow live a sustainable life.

Evaline's story

Evaline is a a widow and a very responsible mother. She has had to go through a great deal of adversity during her lifetime, although she has always had the strength to get ahead and to continue making progress with her family.

She hails from the Molo area of Kenya, an area that has one of the best weather patterns on earth that favors farming. Her upbringing was very challenging and because of this, she promised herself that she would work hard to get out of poverty. That is why she started farming. Through mixed farming, she has been able to earn a decent income, becoming the breadwinner of her family. This really pushes her to work hard so that her children will have a bright future and will have a comfortable life.

Evaline is seeking a loan to buy seeds and fertilizer and improve her crop farming so that she can use the excess space on her land. She dreams of buying more land and increasing her farming. Accessing funds is very difficult for a woman in Africa, but through institutions such as Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, Evaline is optimistic that her dream will be realized and her life will completely change.

Through your loan, the promise of supporting small-scale farmers will be achieved.
