A loan helped to pay for packets of cigarettes to stock her small shop and increase her income.

Louise's story

Louise lives in a rural district four kilometres from Port Vila, Vanuatu. Her community is small, and the main industries there are agriculture and food. Ni-Vanuatu love their local foods, so one is able to make an income despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Louise is a 38-year-old mother of six children, ages 16, 14, 11, 6, 4, and 2. All her children are attending school and live with her in her own home. She is married to a marine officer, and he is a very supportive husband. She has a retail shop and has been in business for a few years. She also has a pig sty that she started in 2020 and raises piglets to sell to butcheries and customers as needed.

Louise has requested a loan to help her pay for packets of cigarettes to stock her small shop and increase her income. She will use her profits to build homes for her children.

Louise dreams to have homes for her family as they are in high demand in the city. Louise is motivated to expand her business and become a more successful businesswoman so she can continue supporting her family.

This is Louise's third loan with SPBD - Vanuatu. Her prior loans were repaid in a timely manner.
