Katimu's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! Katimu is a 37-year-old client from the Waterloo branch. She is married and has four children between the age of 3 and 18, three of whom are currently attending school. Katimu started her business because she wanted to take care of her family.

She has a retail table business where she sells foodstuffs, cassava, and other assorted products to her customers in the community. Her other source of income is derived from her husband’s earnings. Katimu has been in this business for the past five years. She says that her business is doing well and has not had any challenges.

She is requesting a loan through BRAC Sierra Leone in order to purchase more foodstuffs, cassava, and other assorted products to increase her business. Katimu says that the extra income that results from this loan will help her to take care of her family and to increase her business. In the future, she would like to expand her business on a larger scale. She expresses her thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
