Tinah's story

Tinah is 35 years old and lives in the town of Kawempe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has 4 children, with 3 of them currently in school. For the past 6 years, Tinah has been working hard to manage her poultry farming business.

To help expand her business, Tinah has requested a loan of 2,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. This will help Tinah to generate greater profits and she will manage to buy food for her family and also manage to take care of her family's basic needs like buying clothes for her children. Tinah hopes that in the future she will be able to establish a very big poultry farm and build a rentals for business of her own.

Tinah is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Tinah who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
