Bright's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more fresh varieties of food and soft drinks for lunch and breakfast to attract more customers.

Bright's story

Bright is 32 years old and lives in the town of Kawempe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has 4 children who are all currently in school. For the past 6 years, Bright has been working hard to manage her restaurant, which sells cooked food, soft drinks and a cosmetic shop.

To help expand her business, Bright has requested a loan of 1,200,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more fresh varieties of food and soft drinks for lunch and breakfast to attract more customers, and will help Bright to generate greater profits. She will be able to improve on her family's standard of living by providing them enough food and buy clothes for her children. Bright hopes that in the future she will be able to start providing catering services in her community and also own rental houses.

Bright is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Bright who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
