Reyna Matilde's story
Reyna Matilde B. is 59 years old, and lives in the municipality of Soyapango, located in the department of San Salvador. She lives with her 13-year-old granddaughter, who is in school and for whom Reyna is solely responsible. She also lives with an employee, who helps her daily with housework and the bakery. Reyna owns a bakery, where she has been working for 12 years. Thus, she is well known in the area, since she has always been a hard-working woman who delivers orders on time and who maintains a high quality standard. Her granddaughter often helps her distribute the bread to the various places where she has regular customers. Reyna is asking for a loan to buy flour, shortening, honey, sugar, and other ingredients needed for bread-making. Reyna works very hard each day in order to provide the best she can to her granddaughter, and thus improve her business, which has been highly profitable.
