A loan helped to buy quintals of rice and pay for transportation.

Vanessa Estefania's story

Vanessa Estefania and her family live in Portoviejo, a city that was impacted by an earthquake on April 16, 2016 and now is being impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. The city is rich in the production of vegetables, legumes, and tropical fruits for local consumption.

Vanessa Estefania sells quintals of rice from her home. She buys them from distributors when they give good prices and sells them to her neighbors and customers. She sells on credit and collects payments weekly. Before this, she sold makeup.

The pandemic had her without work to avoid contact and due to the restrictions that prevented her from making sales, but now she is able to work following all of the health guidelines. She will use this loan to buy quintals of rice and pay for transportation. Her dream is to have better sales and make sure her family is in good health.
