Mercedes Elizabeth's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fabrics, thread, buttons, and other sewing materials.

Mercedes Elizabeth's story

Mercedes Elizabeth and her family live in the city of Portoviejo, a city that was affected by an earthquake on April 16, 2016, and now by the COVID-19 pandemic. This city is rich in its production of vegetables, legumes, and tropical fruits for domestic consumption.

Mercedes Elizabeth has a small sewing workshop at her house where she makes clothes for customers who request her services. She works Monday through Saturday.

In her family, her husband contracted COVID-19 and is recovering. Mercedes Elizabeth was unable to work at the start of the pandemic due to the social isolation, the fear of getting sick, and various restrictions that prevented her customers from visiting her business. However, she is now following biosafety protocols.

This loan will be used to buy fabrics, thread, buttons, and other sewing materials. Her dreams are to have a larger sewing workshop and to see her family in good health.
