Sylvia's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more shampoo, body lotions, hair oils and body perfumes.

Sylvia's story

Sylvia is 29 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Makindye region of Uganda. She has one child who is currently in school. For the past five years, Sylvia has been working hard to manage her cosmetics shop, in which she sells body lotions, hair oils and treatments for both men and women.

To help expand her business, Sylvia has requested a loan of 1,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more shampoo, body lotions, hair oils and body perfumes for resale, and will help Sylvia to generate greater profits and improve her standard of living by providing enough food for her family. Sylvia hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business into a wholesale shop.

Sylvia is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Sylvia who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
