A loan helped to purchase babouches.

Faraja Kwetu Group's story

Madame Lucienne is a client of microfinance institution Hekima and leads the Faraja Kwetu Group. She is a 61-year-old widow and mother of 7 children who have all finished school.

She sells clothing, a business she started 35 years ago with startup funds from her husband. Later, she partnered with Hekima to support her business, and it has grown progressively since. With this new loan, she will purchase babouches, increasing her working capital. Her business's main challenge is unpaid debts.

Lucienne would like to purchase a piece of land to build a home on. Lastly, she would like to thank Hekima and its partners for the support they give to owners of non-bankable businesses during the global Covid-19 crisis. Only the group leader is shown in the photo due to social distancing measures.
