Samon's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fertilizer, corn seed, and to pay for labour.

Samon's story

Samon is a local married woman who lives with her child and husband in a Kui community in Northeast Thailand. In general, her family makes a living by cultivating a corn farm on their own land and weaving silk clothes.

In the previous time, Samon used a Kiva loan to buy silk thread, dyeing colour, and materials for weaving silk cloth. For this time, she desires to start another business by cultivating a corn farm. One of her relatives made a decent living from corn farming. They also advised her that corn is basically harvested faster than rice and able to grow twice a year. Moreover, it has its own market throughout Thailand, so she desires to invest in the business. Then, she applied for a Kiva loan once again to purchase fertilizer, corn seed, and to pay for labour for cultivating the corn farm.

This loan will enable Samon to purchase the needed materials for use in her business. It will also help local entrepreneurs increase their earnings. She hopes to increase the yield of her corn farm in the future so that she can earn income for her family.
