Jane's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farming inputs such as nutrient-rich fertilizers and high-quality seeds to use on her farm to improve her production.

Jane's story

Wonderful lenders in the Kiva portal don’t be left out in celebrating a woman in Kenya.

The culture of hard work was instilled in Jane by her parents very early when she was still a toddler, and she has never deviated from what she was taught.

Jane who is married and has three school-going children, hails from a remote village in the Molo area of Kenya. Thanks to her daily efforts, she has managed to give her children a good start in life by providing them with a good-quality education.

Access to modern-quality farm inputs is the pillar of the agricultural revolution. However, in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizers and seeds allocated by the government are way below the needs of farmers.

Since Juhudi Kilimo, which is in partnership with Kiva, ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement in input availability.

Jane is seeking a loan to buy farming inputs such as nutrient-rich fertilizers and high-quality seeds to use on her farm to improve her production, make more profits, and pay her children's school fee debt.

Being a woman makes accessing funds in Africa very challenging, especially around Molo. But Jane feels relieved knowing that institutions such as Kiva help hardworking women like herself.

She is always working to improve her family’s living conditions.
