Sharifah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to stock more clothes to sell, like shirts and dresses for adults.

Sharifah's story

Sharifah is 29 years old and lives in the town of Kalerwe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has three children with two of them currently in school.

For the past six years, Sharifah has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells all kinds of adult clothes. To help expand her business, Sharifah has requested a loan of 2,400,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase shirts for gents and dresses for ladies to sell, and will help Sharifah to generate greater profits and manage to pay for some of the children's medical bills, food and basic needs of the family. She hopes that in the future she will be able to open up other boutique outlets, thus creating jobs for the youths in her small village.

Sharifah is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Sharifah who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
