Jane's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more variety of fresh food and soft drinks for lunch and breakfast.

Jane's story

Jane is 28 years old and lives in the town of Mattuga in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has 4 children who are all currently in school. For the past 2 years, Jane has been working hard to manage her restaurant, which sells cooked food and soft drinks.

To help expand her business, Jane has requested a loan of 1,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more variety of fresh food and soft drinks for lunch and breakfast to attract more customers, and will help Jane to generate greater profits and improve her family's standard of living by providing them with enough food and clothes for her children. Jane hopes that in the future she will be able to build a house on her small piece of land.

Jane is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Jane who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
