but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more sacks of sugar, salt and maize flour to sell.

Julian's story

Julian is 25 years old and lives in the town of Mattuga in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She has two children with one of them currently in school. For the past two years, Julian has been working hard to manage her retail shop, where she sells essential items like sugar, salt, cooking oil and soft drinks.

To help expand her business, Julian has requested a loan of 2,000,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more sacks of sugar, salt and maize flour to sell. It will help Julian generate greater profits, invest more in the business and buy food for her family.

Julian hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business into a wholesale shop and also learn a hair dressing skill.

Julian is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small Group members like Julian who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
