Florence's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more sacks of sugar, salt and maize flour to sell.

Florence's story

Florence is 28 years old and lives in the town of Mattuga in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has four children with three of them currently in school. For the past three years, Florence has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells essential items like sugar, salt, cooking oil and water.

To help expand her business, Florence has requested a loan of 1,500,000 Ugandan shillings (UGX) from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more sacks of sugar, salt and maize flour to sell, and will help Florence to generate greater profits and manage to provide enough food for her family. Florence hopes that in the future she will be able to save some money to buy land and construct a residential house.

Florence is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Florence who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
