Sumayah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more men's T-shirts, ladies dresses, trousers and skirts.

Sumayah's story

Sumayah is 25 years old and lives in the town of Kalerwe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has one child. For the past two
years, Sumayah has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells all kinds of men's and ladies clothes, like shirts, dresses, etc.

To help expand her business, Sumayah has requested a loan of 1,800,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more men's T-shirts, ladies dresses, trousers and skirts for sale. This will help Sumayah to generate greater profits and improve on their standard of living by providing enough food for her family and buying new clothes for her child. Sumayah hopes that in the future she will be able to own a big boutique in town with bridal clothes.

Sumayah is a member of BRAC's microfinance program. The program primarily serves small-group members like Sumayah, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
