A loan helped to buy more chickens.

Florecitas De Pajapita Group's story

For many women in Guatemala and throughout the world, the animal rearing business is helping small entrepreneurs to develop. This has a big impact, because in this way they are able to support themselves and their families. This is how Rosmary has lived, aged 46 and with 3 years of school education. Rosmary is a visionary woman with 2 businesses: she sells chicken by the pound and rears hens for fattening. She is married and feels content to support her husband with the higher education of all her children. With the goal of expanding her business, Rosmary is applying for her second Kiva loan to buy more chickens.
The Communal Bank called “Florecitas de Pajapita”,is located in the Department/State of Quetzaltenango. The members benefit from the monthly training programmes. The Instructor covers relevant topics for their lives comprising 4 themes: business, health, family and women’s matters. Rosmary remarks: “Learning about important topics such as the prevention of Covid-19 and understanding the importance of vaccination is vital to protect ourselves and our loved ones".
It is difficult for women like Rosmary to get access to loans and medical services. Kiva, in association with “Puente de Amistad” opens the doors to a more prosperous future to help the members, their families and their communities. Thank you !
