A loan helped to purchase retail goods to stock up her shop to better provide for her customers.

Marceline's story

Marceline lives in a village located on the northern side of Efate island; Port Vila, city of Vanuatu is located on its southern side. She is happily married and has four grown up children. Marceline is a 62-year-old who lives with her family in her own home. Her community is very large, and the main industry is agriculture and fishing. Ni-Vanuatu love their local food and fish, so for one to make an income off these industries has been quite good despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

Marceline has requested a loan to purchase retail goods which will stock up her shop to better provide for her customers. She wants her shop to be well stocked so that when her customers come in, her shop can provide their needs and wants.

With her earned revenue, Marceline will renovate her old house. She has been in her business for over five years now, and her husband has been a major help, especially with the heavy lifting of her stock.

This is Marceline's third loan with SPBD - Vanuatu. She has faithfully repaid her previous loans on time. Through her loans, Marceline feels motivated to continue with her business so she can improve her family's living conditions.
