Tourisu Effie's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for benzene fuel and a pack of cigarettes to stock her home and better provide for her customers.

Tourisu Effie's story

Tourisu Effie lives in a village which is located about a half an hour drive from Port Vila, city of Vanuatu. Her community is large, and the main industry is agriculture. As locals rely a lot on agriculture for food and income, it has been satisfactory for one to make an earning off of it.

Tourisu Effie is a 54-year-old mother of four, three of whom are grown up and no longer attend school while her youngest is still in college. She sadly lost her husband seven years ago due to an illness, so she currently resides with her children in her own home.

Tourisu Effie has requested a loan to help her pay for benzene fuel and a pack of cigarettes so she can stock up her home to resell to her customers. The demand for benzene is high so her business has been adequate. With her earned revenue, she invest in her child's education so she can get a well paid job in the future.

Tourisu Effie dreams that her business can grow so she can provide a fuel station to locals and visitors that pass by. This is Tourisu Effie's third loan with SPBD - Vanuatu. She has been faithful in her previous loan repayments in a timely manner. From her loans, Tourisu Effie feels empowered to expand her business so her children can have something for their own.
