Miriam's story

Hard work spotlights the character of Miriam, who is pictured. She is a female rural smallholder farmer who was not lucky enough to be admitted to any higher learning institution to learn agriculture. Despite that, through gathered experience based on curiosity and natural abilities, she has come to emerge as one of the most respected farmers in her village. She practices dairy and crop farming. Through her profits, Miriam has managed to take care of her family's needs and give her children a good education.

Miriam is seeking a loan of 40,000 KES to buy seeds, pesticides, and high nutrient fertilizers to boost crop production on her farm. She wants to take advantage of her area's favorable climate conditions, the good road network in her village, good soil, and a ready market for farm products to reap more profits.

Unlike most micro-finance companies in Kenya that have imposed very complicated procedures for fund acquisition, Juhudi Kilimo is working closely with Kiva to make loan acquisition for smallholder farmers easy and convenient. Through this intervention, the movement of funds in rural communities has increased, thereby alleviating rural poverty.

Help this woman achieve her dreams and goals. Make a loan and make Miriam's next planting season wonderful!
