A loan helped to increase the work capital of her business selling seafood, and to buy items such as oysters, shrimp, squid, and octopus, among other things.

Maite Melisa's story

Maite is an enterprising, 30-year-old woman. She is a resident of the city of Cartagena de Indias, where she lives with her husband and has a business selling seafood.

Maite started her business approximately three years ago. She conceived the plan with her husband. They started buying their products from informal vendors in order to later resell them to their customers. Maite offers her products daily. Her primary customers are people from the area, restaurants, and seafood carts from the city. She accepts both cash and credit.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Maite saw her income drastically diminish. She is currently seeking her first Kiva loan, through the Fundación Santo Domingo, to increase the work capital of her business, and to buy items such as oysters, shrimp, squid, and octopus, among other things. This will allow her to increase her number of sales and generate greater profit. Support her with this loan for her business.
