A loan helped to buy supplies to make shoes.

Benita's story

Benita, 36, is a small-businesswoman who lives in the city of Barranquilla with her family. For 15 years, she's had a business making and selling shoes. She started her business with her own savings, along with some family loans. This business is a source of income to pay for the household expenses and personal projects. Her customers are based in Barranquilla and Bolívar. She makes and sells shoes in various neighborhoods of the city.

This business is Benita's only source of income, and it provides the means to contribute to the support of her household. But because of the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic, her work diminished due to questions of biosecurity, and her income fell dramatically. This is why she is requesting her first Kiva loan through the Fundacion Santo Domingo to invest in rubber and synthetic soles, glue, foam, and fabric. Support her with a loan for her business!
