Ana Milena's story

Ana Milena is a 35-year-old micro-businesswoman. She lives in the municipality of Soledad with her spouse. She has more than 14 years' experience selling women's, men's and children's footwear of all types. At this time, she practices this activity from a kiosk located in the city center, which is a high traffic area. In her family, there have always been people who worked at this activity, and she learned the trade practically since she was a child. She gained her financial independence after having children, when faced with the need to help support the household.

She carries out this activity by her own strength of will and work. In her locale, she displays and sells all kinds of tennis shoes, sandals, and slippers to suit all tastes. Her potential customers are visitors, relatives, referrals and friends, who contribute to her growth day to day. However, due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, her work level went down because of bio-safety reasons, and her income was drastically reduced.

She is now taking out her first Kiva loan with the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo in order to invest in buying shoes, sandals, tennis shoes, blouses, pants, dresses, t-shirts, sweaters, and items of children's clothing. Support her in her business loan.
