A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving and also help with their fishing boat.

'Emeline's story

Meet 'Emeline. She is 55 years old and married to a fisherman. They have seven grown children, and the four youngest live with them.

'Emeline and her family live in the island of Ha'apai, and she currently runs a weaving business. She weaves taovala, mats and fihu, using white pandanus only, and sells them mainly to her relatives overseas. Her husband does fishing for their meals only, but 'Emeline came up with the idea of starting a fishing business to support her weaving business.

'Emeline has three women who weave for her, and she pays them according to the type of products that they weave. She also has local customers, but she is more interested in selling her products to her overseas customers.

Part of this loan will be used to purchase pandanus for her weaving and another portion of the loan will be used for renovating her family's fishing boat so they can start their fishing business. Consider showing 'Emeline your support with a loan to help implement her plan.
