06_Santhiaba Sud Group's story

This group is composed of six women sharing strong ties of solidarity and mutual help. They live in the same neighborhood and have taken advantage of the chance to join the banc villageois since it was launched in their community in December 2007. They mainly work as retail vendors.

Ms. Gaye (the one standing on the far right in the photo raising her hand) is the group representative. She is 58 years old. She is married and has eight children, including three daughters. Gaye retails fabrics. She has plenty of experience in this line of business having practiced it for a number of years.

With this new loan, Gaye plans to go the capital city to buy scarves and traditional colorful wax print and brocade "bazin" fabric to resell to her customers. Thanks to her revenues, Gaye plans to develop her business, bolster her savings and help her husband with family expenses.
