A loan helped to buy the necessary inputs for growing potatoes.

Jean De Dieu's story

Jean de Dieu, who is 34 years old, is a farmer. He lives in his native village with his wife and three children. The family has its own house. Jean de Dieu owns farming land and, since he was very young, he has been used to working the fields and the farm. Farming is his main source of income and he also sells seeds on a door-to-door basis. He has been growing potatoes for around 15 years and finds this to be a profitable activity. He sells his produce at a local market but would like to open other outlets.

He has decided to take out loans so he can have the funds to expand progressively his activity and chose Vahatra, which granted a first loan to him. His profits were used to boost his capital. The following loan is necessary for him to buy 200 kilos of potato seeds, 15 barrow-loads of manure and phytosanitary products. He is requesting lender support and will be able to expand his farming land further. He hopes to make enough profit to boost his capital and provide for his family's needs.
