Nicole's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase boat parts to repair a boat as well as liquor to restock her liquor shop and increase her income.

Nicole's story

Nicole lives in an urban district which is located four kilometres away from Port Vila city. Her community is small, and the main industry is food. Although Vanuatu's tourism industry has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, locals have turned to other industries such as food and agriculture as means of food and income, so making money has been quite alright.

Nicole is 63 years of age and happily married with five grown children. Her husband is currently ill and she takes care of him. She lives with few of her children and husband in her own home.

Nicole has requested a loan to purchase boat parts to repair her boat as well as liquor to restock her liquor shop to increase her income. She wants her boat to start her fishing business again. This will help increase her income, which she will use to pay for her husbands medical bills and medication.

Nicole always had her husband helping her, but due to a minor stroke she had to slow down on her business to take care of him. She has been in her kava bar and food stall business for over six years. This is Nicole's sixth loan with SPBD - Vanuatu. She has faithfully repaid her previous loans on time. Through her loans, Nicole feels empowered to expand her business so her children can have something for their own in the future.
