Benkadi Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy agricultural inputs to work on his garden with the aim of supporting his family.

Benkadi Group's story

This picture shows Bakary in his pepper garden with a daba tool on his shoulder. He is 46 years old and the leader of the group. He did not have the opportunity to go to school. He is married and the father of five children, all of whom go to school. Due to COVID-19, he is representing the group.

Bakary has been market gardening for over 15 years and is on his ninth loan cycle with RMCR. He purchases his inputs (seeds and fertilizer) in the nearby markets and sells his garden produce in the same areas. The profits he makes allow him to cover his family's expenses for healthcare, education, clothing, and more. His wife also works in market gardening. The challenges he encounters often are nursery failures, damage from certain pests, wells drying up, and poor sales. He counts on RMCR so he can avoid borrowing from neighbors.

In the future, he would like to continue working with RMCR to make more profits and cover family expenses for the family's well-being, and to manage his business well. What he likes about market gardening is the profit he makes.
