Salote's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more bales of kava for her business.

Salote's story

Salote resides in a village that is a 45-minute drive from the capital city. Just like all other Fijians residing on Viti Levu Island, she is struggling to make ends meet in this pandemic.

She has opted to purchase bales of kava roots directly from farmers, which is a lot cheaper than purchasing the pounded ones. This will enable her to dry the kava roots perfectly and ready for pounding. Kava roots are a lot cheaper from farmers, and this will help her sell at a reasonable price to make profit to sustain her family.

Drinking kava is common in most Fijian households, especially during this pandemic when no unnecessary movement is allowed. People prefer to just stay home and drink kava with their family members.
