A loan helped to buy farming inputs to increase her production.

Miriam's story

Miriam is a 59-year-old mother of six children. She lives in Eldama Ravine, a town that was significantly struck by the 2007–2008 crisis when violence occurred in Kenya. Miriam is a mixed farmer with many years of experience. Through farming, she has been able to change her family’s reputation.

Miriam is seeking a loan to buy farming inputs, which she plans to use to increase her production in order to make more income to support her family. Juhudi Kilimo’s partnership with Kiva is an effective tool for reducing poverty in Kenya, especially among women, since it is among the central actors in the rural areas. Miriam is hopeful that the Kiva lenders will respond positively to her loan request.
