Luz Elena's story

Luz Elena is an enterprising 53-year-old woman. She lives in the city of Cartagena de Indias, where she has a sewing business. She started this business more than 10 years ago due to the lack of job opportunities and because she wanted to take her family forward and offer them a better quality of life.

Over time, she has gained renown in the area as a responsible, hard working, and very disciplined person. She offers her services daily to her main customers, who are her neighbors, nearby people, and business through contracts. Her customers pay with cash or on credit.

At the moment, her work is suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic because of health and safety concerns.

She is requesting her first Kiva loan through Fundación Santo Domingo to increase her working capital and to buy a new sewing machine, as well as materials, such fabric, thread, pins, buttons, and other things. This will enable her to restart her work and to grow her sales and profits. Support her loan for her business.
