Alexis's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped a women veteran-owned business upgrade and grow my small business, as well as purchase inventory.

Alexis's story

I am an Air Force Veteran. I grew up in a fast city about 30 miles north of Miami, FL. Growing up I’ve always struggled with mild acne. A few times I was placed on acne medication. After joining the military, my acne had seem to get a little worse around the forehead area due to the cap I wore each work day. Not knowing what I know now about skin care, I continued to use over the counter skin care products to tackle my breakouts. Due to the lack of education on melanated skin and the different skin care products used on ethnic skin, I realized the importance of knowledge on all skin types and their conditions. Fast forward to 2015, I begin to dabble into the medical field and became a Phlebotomist. I researched skin care and how it can be incorporated into my current license. I started my research on natural home care remedies and the use of plasma. I found out that as an Esthetician with a phlebotomy license, you can treat different skin care conditions with plasma just by a simple blood draw. During COVID, I had a lot of free time. What started as a fun and cute project for my daughter and I, ended up sparking a business idea. We decided to make our own skin and lip scrub. I decided to enroll into a skin care program to be come an Esthetician. I knew it will help me with putting my passion into a business that could help out the entire community. Today, I am now a Licensed Esthetician and Certified Electrologist. As my business and the beauty industry continues to grow, I look to provide my clients with the most safe and effective beauty treatments using all high-grade equipment and products.
