A loan helped to purchase a high-yielding dairy cow and milk cans.

Linner's story

Linner is a hardworking farmer who hails from a remote village of the Bomet area of Kenya. Her striving for inner accomplishment acts as her driving force toward achieving success. She is the mother of five children. The challenge that affects smallholder farmers in Kenya is the lack of reliable credit sources. Farmers like Linner have big dreams for their lives, but are discouraged by lack of funds to implement their ideas. Thanks to her efforts, Linner has been able to meet her children's educational needs and provide them a better life.

She is seeking a loan of 20,000 KES from Kiva to purchase a high yielding dairy cow and milk cans to support her milk vending business. The cow will boost milk production on the farm, and as a result, more quantity of milk will be available for both consumption and sales. With the money from the additional sales, Linner will be able to repay her loan on time, and use the rest on the high farming cost of production. In the long run, it will improve her family's standard of living.
