A loan helped to restock a variety of products in her general store.

9 De Octubre Group's story

Rafaela, mother of four, used to sell natural remedies for the traditional loose-leaf teas mate and tereré. When she received her first micro-loan, Rafaela decided to start a general store in her home to generate more income for her family. Since joining her trust group, she says that her life has changed for the better and that she has learned many new things. With her new loan, Rafaela will restock her general store with groceries and a variety of products for the home. Her dream for the future is that her children will finish their studies and become professionals. "Thanks to my group loan from Diaconía I can live a life of dignity," she commented.

Others in Rafaela's group sell clothes, shoes, natural remedies, or homemade cakes. Due to strict social gathering restrictions in Paraguay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Rafaela's group cannot meet regularly so she is the only one who appears in their group profile photo.
