A loan helped to buy more agricultural surplus from smallholder farmers to sell in the market.

Maria's story

Maria is a 54-year-old Mozambican woman. She lives in Dondo where she runs her business of agricultural surplus commercialization.

She started benefiting from iDE assistance in 2019, and nowadays she has a network of 70 smallholder farmers of which she buys the crops to sell in the market.

This activity allows Maria and other smallholder farmers to earn a regular income that can help to address basic needs such as food, health services, and education for the children.

In order to continue this activity, which is her unique trusted source of income, Maria needs more money to buy more agricultural surplus from smallholder farmers to sell in the market. The reason why, she is requesting her first Kiva loan.
