A loan helped to purchase yarn and materials to make handcrafted keychains for sale.

Amphai's story

Amphai is a married local woman who lives with her husband and children in a Kui community of Surin Province, the northeastern region of Thailand. In general, her family makes a living by growing jasmine rice and selling handmade keychains as a second job.

Amphai began making handmade keychains for sale in 2017. Her neighbor taught her and inspired her to make the handmade product. She looked for a loan to invest in the handicraft keychain business in order to increase more income for spending in her family. Thus, she applied for a Kiva loan to buy yarn and materials to make handcrafted keychains to sell.

The loan will enable her to purchase materials for use in her occupation while also support local entrepreneurs. In the future, she hopes to earn more income for spending in her family and provide them with a higher standard of living.
