Deggo Escale Group's story
Fatoumata is the president of the group« DEGGO ESCALE ». In wolof, the most spoken language in Senegal, it means "understanding or agreement" and is in the Escale area. She has been active in the field of raising sheep and goats for 20 years. She is a widow and has two grand children in school. She lives in Tamacounda, a region in Senegal, where, like other members of the group, she has been doing this. The group is made up of 16 women who have united their strength to request a loan, in order to, develop their activity of raising animals. Fatoumata is illiterate. She is a hardworking woman who dreams of expanding her herd in order to increase her profits. She buys her subjects at the weekly markets. In this way, after having cared well for her sheep and goats, she resells them, traveling on the road at the markets, at beneficial prices favorable to her. In this way, she will be able to satisfy the needs of her grandchildren; being the sole support of her grand children, their food, health and safety, etc. Fatoumata is taking out the loan to buy sheep and goats. She has not had to face animal theft because she has a secure enclosure but sometimes she deals with illnesses which can be an obstacle to achieving her goals.
