A loan helped to stock up on salted fish which will strengthen her initial capital.

Butseme Group's story

Ms. Onifa, 45, is a client of the microfinance institute Hekima, and president of the village group 'Butseme'. She is married and a mother of 7 children all of whom are educated. Her partner is a tailor.

Onifa sells fish — she has been in this business since 1996 with the startup funds received from her husband. Later on, she was involved with the Hekima program to support her business during which time it gradually developed.

With this new loan, Onifa is going to stock up on salted fish which will strengthen her initial capital. The challenge of this business is unsafe roads.

Onfia would like her children to continue their studies. She wishes to buy another plot of land. Finally, she wants to thank Hekima and its partners for their support towards non-bankable entrepreneurs in the context of the Covid-19 global crisis. The photo is only of the group leader because of Covid-19 social distancing measures.
