A loan helped stock up on used shoes, bolstering her working capital.

Umoja Ni Nguvu Group's story

Ms. Odette is a client of the IMF Hekima and the chair of the Umoja Ni Nguvu group villageoise. She is married, 43 years old, and the mother of ten children, five of whom are in school and five others have already graduated. Her husband is unemployed.

Odette sells used shoes. She launched this business 21 years ago with the starting capital obtained from her husband. Later on she joined the Hekima program in order to support her business, and has been gradually developing it. With this new loan, Odette will stock up on used shoes, bolstering her working capital. Her business challenges are linked to the lack of customers during the season of annual holidays.

Odette would like to see her children continue their education as well as to provide for her family. In conclusion, Odette would like to thank Hekima and its partners for supporting business owners lacking access to funding, particularly at this time of a global crisis caused by Covid-19. Only the group leader appears in the photo due to Covid-19 social distancing measures.
