Milanyela Del Carmen's story

Milanyela is a small entrepreneur from Venezuela. She is 29 years old and lives in the city of Ibarra.

Milanyela studied petroleum engineering at a university in Venezuela. However, due to the socioeconomic crisis in her country, she moved to Ecuador six years ago. When she arrived in Ecuador, Milanyela started working as a waitress at a restaurant. This enabled her to save money so that she could open her own business of selling traditional Venezuelan food, such as arepas and empanadas.

At the moment, Milanyela rents a shop at a market in the city, which helps her to serve a large number of customers. Even though she had to close her business during the health crisis caused by the pandemic, she continued to offer her products for home delivery. During the middle of last year, she was able to reopen her shop and her sales gradually returned to normal. The quality of the products and service she offers has helped to consolidate her business. Milanyela is now requesting a loan to acquire a refrigerator and a freezer.

She appreciates the support of the lenders. Her goal is to become an example of success for her fellow migrants.
