Nua Ngam 36 Group's story

The woman standing at the far right in the photo is Hong. She is 38 years old and married. She lives with her husband, her 16-year-old son and her 6-year-old daughter in a poor and remote village of the northwest mountain region of Vietnam.

Her income is mostly from selling agricultural products such as rice, corn, cassava, chicken, ducks and pigs. Before she joined the Anh Chi Em microfinance program, Hong said that her main hardship was the lack of capital because where she lives is far from the center of the town. Since the Anh Chi Em program came to her village, she has been interested in its loan and agricultural training and counseling, which have favorably affected her farming and animal husbandry.

Recently, Hong requested her ninth loan from Anh Chi Em after achieving success with previous loans to buy fertilizer for her rice fields. She believes that with her many years of experience in farming together with the support in agricultural technique from Anh Chi Em, this investment will be as successful as the previous ones so that she can pay for her children to go to school.

Hong hopes that her family will soon escape poverty and that the children have a bright future!
