Mele's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy pandanus leaves for her weaving and to hire workers to weave for her.

Mele's story

Mele is a 59-year-old mother of five children and three grandchildren. Her partner is a barber. Mele and her partner live in their own home. Four of her children have families of their own. Her youngest daughter lives with her and attends high school.

Mele has become the breadwinner of her family. She currently operates a weaving business with help from her partner. Mele is able to produce two kies [traditional Tongan mats] per month. At the moment, she faces no challenges with her business.

This loan will be used to buy pandanus leaves for her weaving operations and to hire workers to help weave mats. Mele said, “I want to send my daughter overseas to finish her university education.”
